First of all it arrived in PERFECT condition! Clean and whole in all it's beautiful glory.
I wish you could feel the texture of the fabric embellishment; the cut spiral, the silver stitches.
I wish you could see close up (enlarge it) the plastic glass bottle, the shiny stars, the notes within. These of course are my grand children, (twin brother and sister) going through goodies from Grandma's basket!

Card from Suki
'For African Bushmen, a dozen words are enough for a whole lifetime'
Got home after a tiring Friday with a class of (wonderful) 6 year olds, to find this lovely card from Suki.It is very beautifully done, and, as you know part of my heart and soul are all back in Africa, so to get this means a whole lot to me.
The words on the back are wonderful.
Thanks so very much dear Suki, you touched me.
suki's post card from Patty
oh my. this is such a wonderful, intricate drawing. I love the organic flower-like shapes and the little seed pods dangling. All the patterns. Thank you so much patti. I love black and white drawings. On the address side Patty quoted Picasso. "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up!" Thanks Patty.

Two Received in Alaska
I received TWO postcards in the mail today! Oh Happy Day!
This green "Directions" card came to me from Mim - it's the one that was undersized and sent back to her so she turned around, popped it in an envelope and mailed it to me in one of her own dachshund/fish cards. She doesn't know but I used to have two dachshunds and really love this special card. It has Cricket and Ruger right on the front....with fins. The directions tell me to "sketch an exuberant light-filled moment". I shall endeavor to do so this week! (I also got my G for Gold ATC for another blog) Thanks Mim!
The next card is from Lynn in California. It is made from a cereal box, maps and fabric. Wow! I just didn't know you could combine them all and send it through the mail. She has a map of CA and of AK and shows the distance as "not too far". She writes on the back, "it looks fairly close when the maps are viewed this way!" I agree, it does look close this way and Alaska is even further south than San Francisco; does that mean we get to trade weather too? Thanks Lynn!
How creative they both are and now I'm more determined than ever to try collage again.
PS - both these cards were addressed to 64th Avenue and both reached me. However, I do live at 84th Avenue so if you could get that corrected I will have a better chance of receiving the rest. Thanks!

Card/s from Debra
This card arrived today from Debra.
The previous two arrived on Tuesday.
I love the words, I can see and hear Debra saying them.
I like the simple things in life, I love words, these are all great Debs.
Thanks so much.
I hope all your 'bits' are now slowly on the mend, ready for your holiday soon.

Suki's card for Caroline
Hi Everyone!
I have a new laptop and the internet is finally working, so here I am with this super postcard from Suki which arrived last week! I love it! On the back it reads:
" And that's how I came
to the edge of the pond:
black and empty
except for a spindle
of bleached reeds
at the far shore
which, as I looked,
wrinked suddenly into three egrets...
a shower of white fire!
Even half-asleep they had
such faith in the world'
Excerpt from 'Egrets' by Mary Oliver

I received this wonderful postcard from Debra Kay. I don't know how she did it but it looks like a professional postcard. It looks like a dream. Thank you so much DK for this very balanced dream-like postcard.

Lisa Went Over The Top For Lynn!
Lisa, you have no idea what you've done here I do not think. How could you know that you created a collage using a song my DH has been singing for forty years? One that I absolutely go weak knees over every time he sings it. (Rocky Top was written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, who also wrote a lot of songs for the Everly Brothers. If you want to read all the lyrics to this song go to this link.)
This lovely card with it's Tennessee mountains, birds in flight and a stately hawk over the song lyrics is wonderful to see. And I am still smiling broadly from the chord it struck with me. This bird on the back is surrounded by a poem by Langston Hughes and says:
"Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly..."

Postcards coming soon!
I finally got two postcards off in the mail...one is for Suki and one is for Caroline. I had created some other collage postcards last week and then when I tried to put something on to seal them so they wouldn't get messed up in the mail it ruined them. So I started over. I didn't like my collages anyway, I think I'll keep trying collage but for now I'm sticking to something I know I can do like drawing! ;) I'm impressed with those of you who collage - yours always look so pretty and together and it makes sense. I don't understand how you can pick and choose things and then glue it all down and it looks beautiful. Mine look like..., well let's just say they don't look as good as yours!

Two Postcards received
I got this postcard from Marianne....
...and all I can say so far is Wow. It is gorgeous, such a lovely painting. Marianne wrote a great note on the back and so far I have managed to translate the first sentence which I think says "Hope all is well with you". LOVE it Marianne and also gives me a good excuse to email a dear friend from Holland to have her help with a translation.
Lynn took a painting of mine, and managed to digitize it or something like that and THREADPAINTED it. I was just stunned when I saw it, wow, wow. It's really beautiful and tactile and creative and the orange bit there is on my scanner not in the threadpainting!
The first postcard I sent out was to Patty and guess what...it came back as TOO SMALL. So I have remailed it out to Patty in an envelope, along with an ATC and am not cutting my postcards just a bit bigger.
I really like this exchange, it's new and challenging - I like postcard art anyway, so this mixes it up well for me.

Will This Post? Who Knows
Blogger seems to hate me these days-but I am mailing 3 postcards to Soulbrush in the morning (to make up for being a week late) and one to Lisa-on time-yay. I'm on a roll now, or maybe that's a croissant.
Soul's Post Card
When I came in from doing errands my DB told me I had mail. WHOOO HOOO !!! I received my first postcard. Soul said it was the first card she ever made. It is a beauty. It arrived in great shape. It has layers of collage. It has so much Soul. Thank you so much Soul.
I want to say I am sorry I haven't left comments here. I was wondering today why I hadn't seen any posts come through my Reader. Bahhhh I guess I didn't get it on there. So glad to see that others have their cards posted here.
They Are In The Mail...Finally
Being Busy with different things and our President's Holiday prevented/got in the way of my getting two postcards out in the mail in a timely manner. But YESTERDAY two finally made it: One on it's way to Marianne in the Netherlands and one to Mim in Mass.! My apologies for being so late...curious to how clean they will be upon arrival.

It was apparent immediately that my postcard was from Lolo as soon as I saw her trademark art stamp! This beautiful waterlily art card is 5" X 8" in size and a real knock out in color and texture!
She even got arty on the "letter" side with quote and marking pens!
Thank you Lolo, this was fun to receive and it is a beauty I will treasure!
